Young Readers Program

A huge thanks to Del. Korman for sponsoring the Young Readers Program and for making it accessible across the state!

The Maryland Governor’s Young Readers Program, an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children, no matter their family’s income. Eligible participants include children from ages birth to 5-years-old that are residents of Baltimore City. The goal of this program is to improve children’s literacy levels, increase parent-child interaction, and better prepare children before they enter school. The Governor’s Young Readers program began in 2016 and have successfully provided valuable resources to thousands of children and families.

The Enoch Pratt Free Library serves as the non-profit affiliate for this initiative. The Judy Centers of Baltimore City provides programmatic support and enrollment efforts by engaging the families they serve to participate in the Governor’s Young Readers Program. Judy Centers are located in eleven Title I schools in the Baltimore City Region and provide early education services to children under the age of 5.
