How to Complete Interim Reports for LSTA Grants

Interim reports are an important way for MSLA to monitor LSTA grants and make sure that timelines and activities are being carried out since the beginning of the grant cycle on July 1. All Interim reports are completed via the eGMS and are due January 30.

The MSLA grant liaison for your grant and/or library system will review each interim report and approve it or send it back for more details.

New This Year: If a Competitive Grant has not expended any funds or made significant progress by January 30, the grant liaison will reach out to have a conversation about the progress of the grant.

Please note: Even if your grant has not expended any funds by January 30, 2024, an interim report needs to be completed with a timeline of future activities and expenditures.

Included in the Interim Report

  • How much of the grant funds have been reimbursed so far?
  • Will all of the grant funds be reimbursed by the end date, June 30?

Summary of progress on the grant program:

  • Include important activities completed and the steps you took to get there as well as their dates.
  • Consider including an estimate of the number of staff hours necessary to be able to complete/administer this grant so far.
  • Think about how you will be measuring the success of this grant for the final report that is due June 30, 2024. Please survey staff using IMLS-approved survey questions.
  • A one- or two-sentence answer that includes no details is not a sufficient summary of grant progress. If your grant provided funds for staff to attend conferences or webinars, please include the title and date of the webinar and how many staff attended. If your grant involves planning, what has been accomplished so far?

This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
