Data Tools for Maryland Public Libraries

The Maryland State Library, in partnership with Prince George's County Memorial Library System, directs Institute of Museum and Library Services LSTA grant funds to provide each library system in Maryland with a Tableau license and consulting support. Using Tableau helps libraries to leverage their data for informed decision-making on collections, programming, staffing, and beyond. This grant also provides access to PolicyMap for all library systems. PolicyMap is a cloud-based mapping tool that makes demographic, socio-economic, and other data available in an easy-to-use visual format. Libraries can use this tool to understand their communities and target collections, services, and resources where they are most needed.

You can access the MSL PolicyMap site here.

You can access PolicyMap training and product walk-throughs here.
