SWOT Analysis for LSTA Grant Projects in Maryland

Below are some general guidelines on what a SWOT analysis looks like for an LSTA grant program. The main goal of the SWOT analysis is to assess the grant internally as a way to reflect on the project and its future. When other library systems read the SWOT analysis or attend the grants showcase, what do they need to know to evaluate if this program could be beneficial to their library community?

Strengths of the grant program. What went right. Have you received positive feedback? Was it easy to manage?
Weaknesses of the grant program. What didn't go right. What roadblocks or imperfections were experienced with the program? Were there enough funds?
Opportunities. Did the grant program lead you to other partnerships? Are there opportunities to expand the grant? Are there ways to fine-tune the grant? What would you change to improve the program? Are there better ways to assess the program?
Threats. Have you received negative feedback for the program? Will the library system be able to sustain the grant once the grant period is over?

This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
