Conferences & Events
Conferences and large events provide library staff and volunteers the opportunity to learn and network with others in the profession. The Maryland State Library supports conference participation in a few ways:
Each year, MSLA guides and supports the planning and development of these in-state conferences and events.
Maryland State Library Agency Conferences & Events
A one-day "hybrid" conference of speakers and sharing about teen services in Maryland libraries. Learn from others about spaces, programs, partners, and advocacy for our teens. Hear from colleagues around the state and teens themselves to strengthen Teen Voice in our teen services.
(Winter) This one-day conference focuses on building a library technology community in Maryland that is more inclusive than in the past – recognizing that our tech efforts touch ALL library staff, not just IT staff. The intended audience is “IT staff”, “technologists” and “technology enthusiasts” from all types of libraries. The event is designed to bridge these various library technology worlds to be inclusive of all library staff.
(Summer as needed) This conference is envisioned as a platform for exploring both broad cultural changes, as well as the organizational culture within libraries. Our goal is to share how libraries are adapting their internal organizational cultures to more effectively deal with outside cultural changes, while partnering with their communities to not only respond to, but also effect change.
