Everyone Leads - Offered virtually and in-person in regional locations statewide each Spring. Focuses on how to be a leader and influence organizational change from any position you hold in your organization. Topics include: What is leadership today; influence without authority; confidence; basics of leading projects. Intended audience: Branch managers and department heads, assistant managers, supervisors, and team leaders. Facilitators for this program completed the Leading Everyone to Everyone Leads program in Spring 2022.
Nettie B. Taylor Maryland Library Leadership Institute (MLLI) - Maryland Library Association holds this program every other year as possible. The Institute is designed for any library staff person who has demonstrated leadership potential, excellent communication skills, initiative, and a commitment to the profession. These are the individuals who make a difference in your community. Applicants are from school, academic, and public libraries. Visit the MLA MLLI page for more information.
Executive University - Typically offered twice per year prior to MAPLA meetings. Topics vary. The intended audience is new public library directors and associate/assistant directors and managers in the upper levels of library administration. However, there may be more experienced directors who want to learn about a hot topic or attend a refresher.
Strategic Leadership - Held as needed. The intended audience is administrative leaders. Individuals who are both new to their role (five years or less of experience in a high-level position) and those who are more experienced in public, academic, and school libraries. Aspiring administrative leaders with significant experience.
